phase 2 of the home reset

Updated: Apr 20, 2024

Hey everyone!

So, I had this grand plan to reset my home and get everything organized, but let me tell you, life had other ideas! It started off slower than I was hoping for, thanks to a little kink in the road. But you know what? I've more than made up for lost time with a crazy amount of decluttering.

I decided to kick things off in the kitchen. I went through everything at lightning speed, creating a pile of things I haven't used in ages. It was liberating to finally let go of those items that were just taking up space.

Next up were the kids' rooms and closets. Let me tell you, it's amazing how much stuff can accumulate in such a short amount of time! We sorted through everything, and I was ruthless about tossing out anything broken or just plain trash.

The last frontier in my decluttering mission was the kids' playroom closet of toys and games. I couldn't believe how much stuff was in there that hadn't been touched in ages. So, I loaded up a truck with all the unused items and donated them. It felt so good to know that they would find new life with someone else.

One thing I always make sure to do is involve the kids in the process. After I've sorted through everything and gotten rid of the things we don't need, I have the kids help me go through all the toys. It's a good opportunity for them to see what they really have and to understand the value of letting go of things they no longer use.

I have to say, the whole decluttering process has been so therapeutic. It's amazing how much lighter and more energized I feel now that we've cleared out so much unnecessary stuff. Plus, knowing that our unused items are going to someone who will appreciate them just makes it all the more worthwhile.

I'm not done yet, though. I've still got a few more areas of the house to tackle, but I'm feeling motivated and ready to keep going. There's something incredibly satisfying about creating space and order in our home, and I can't wait to see the end result.

If you've been thinking about decluttering and getting organized, I highly recommend it. It's a bit of work, but the payoff is definitely worth it. Plus, it's a great opportunity to teach kids about the value of letting go and giving to others.

Well, that's all for now. I'll be sure to keep you updated on my progress. In the meantime, if you have any tips or tricks for decluttering, I'd love to hear them!

here are a few of my top tips that have helped me.

  • First off, meal planning for the month has been a game-changer for me. It's so nice not to stress about what to make for dinner at the last minute. It saves time and money, and it's one less thing to worry about during the week.

  • Another tip I swear by is having 3 boxes: one for donate, one for keep, and one for trash. It's a simple way to declutter and organize your space without feeling overwhelmed.

  • And lastly, I've learned that having a plan and starting slow is key to making your goals achievable.

  • Whether it's working towards a personal goal, taking small steps and being patient with yourself can make all the difference.

I hope these tips can be as helpful for you as they have been for me. Here's to making life a little bit easier and more organized!
