Back to school here we go

We are starting a new chapter in our little family; all three kids will be attending school full time this year. Hayden is heading into third, Ella second, and Anson is now a kindergartener. Be still my heart.

The question I’ve been asked the most is, “what will you do with all your free time?” Trust me; it’s filling up fast between PTO, Flourish, workshops, and, well, our home. I went through a three-month “oh no” what do I do now? The thought process of going back to school or starting a new job was an idea that I felt was what I was obliged to do.

I finally brought all my thoughts to my husband (poor guy has to always get my wandering mind back on course). What he said to me shut down all the crazy ideas going on. He spoke personally to my being, “MaRisha, what do you want? Do you want to go back to school? Do you want to be committed to a full-time job? Why? What if you started your workshops back up, enjoy your family time, maybe do more interior design?” And that is what I wanted. More than anything, I think I wanted him to tell me, “do you.” My door has always been wide open to creativity, so why was I trying to fit into a door that I didn’t want to go through?

Now, as the school year starts back up, I see so much potential. The ideas running through my brain are now, “I have time to make fun snacks for when the kids get home from school,” “developing unique workshops for ladies to enjoy,” and “I’ll be refueled for when the kids get home from school.” the possibilities are endless.

HAYDEN

ELLA

ANSON

I’m in the next chapter of my life. I’ve loved the older chapters, and I love looking back on how much we all have gained, grown as a family, and worked through many obstacles in the past years. However, I’m curious about the following couple of chapters.

MADE THE KIDS A SPECIAL FIRST-DAY-BACK BREAKFAST.

SNACK STATION ALL ORGANIZED AND READY.

THIS IS HOW MOM LOOKS AND FEELS. ON THE FIRST DAY.

Our top 5 favorite back-to-school items are.

1. I love pottery barn kids’ backpacks(we couldn’t find Anson for the pictures, but it is StarWars). This is our second year using them, and they have been durable for a whole school year. Hopefully, they hold up for another.

2. Snacks, we love all kinds of snacks! Hayden loves peanut butter crackers, Ella grabbed dried strawberries, and Anson picked a kind bar with trail mix.

3. Outfits! The kids have more opinions the older they get—Hayden has on an under armor polo, Levi shorts, and twisted x shoes. Ella is sporting a cute cat and jack dress with Adidas shoes, and Anson has a Sonoma shirt, cat and jack shorts, with his Camo slip-on Old Navy shoes. I think they are super cute if I do say so myself.

4. Water bottles…this is a big deal for my kids. We picked up three hydra peak 32ox flasks. Kids Also grabbed some of Caleb’s R44 and R66 sticks to jazz them up.

Thank you, MaRisha
